Favor Boxes vs. Goodie Bags vs. Treat Cups: Which Works for Your Party
Look for party favors and you'll find lots of options: cellophane or paper goodie bags, plastic treat cups, fabric pouches and cardstock boxes. None is best at everything; it depends on budget, guest age and how much you want the favor to look like part of the decor. This comparison helps you decide.
Goodie bags
They're the cheapest and easiest option to find. In exchange, they sag under the weight, don't stand up on the table, and personalization is usually limited to a label or sticker on the front.
They work well for very large parties on a tight budget, or as an inner bag inside another favor.
Treat cups and fabric pouches
Plastic treat cups are reusable, but they take up space, are hard to personalize with a name and the theme is usually generic. Fabric pouches look nice and can be reused, though they cost more, and adding a name raises the price per piece even further.
Lunch-box-style favor boxes
A box with a handle stands on its own, looks tidy on the candy table and is fully personalized: the birthday child's name and the theme cover the whole design, not just a label. The handle makes it easy for kids to carry, and there's room for candy and a small gift.
At Yume we make them in opaline cardstock, 15.7 × 11.7 × 9.9 cm, with name and theme, at $75 MXN per piece with a minimum of 10, and they arrive assembled.
Which to choose
If you want the cheapest option for lots of guests, the goodie bag. If you want something reusable, the cup or the pouch. If you want the favor to match the party, carry the birthday child's name and look like part of the decor, the personalized box gives the most for what it costs.
